ARTIST STATEMENT
Fotografie entspricht zu keiner Zeit einem Bildnis unserer Realität, sondern formt augenblicklich subjektive Abstraktion. Und jeglicher Betrachtung ist ein schwankendes Empfinden zwischen diesen Genres immanent.
So versteht Nicole Holz Fotografie wesentlich als visuelle Philosophie und übersetzendes Medium. In ihren Arbeiten wirkt zentral eine losgelöste Inszenierung von ländlichen und / oder urbanen Räumen außerhalb unserer gewohnten Wahrnehmung und Sichtweise:
Durchbrochene Kompositionen aus Entfremdung und bewegten Sequenzen. Überwindung von Grenzen bis zu deren Auflösung. Fragmentale Beschneidung von Farben, Formen, Linien und Inhalt – jedoch ohne den Raum selbst in seiner Essenz und Dimension zu verlieren. Eine fotografische Emanzipation durch bewusste Verletzung von Regeln.
Nicole Holz macht das essentiell Offensichtliche wie schemenhaft Verborgene einer Szene sichtbar - die Umkehr zulassend zu imaginärer Verdichtung und erzählerischer Kraft erschließt sich dem Betrachter keine Reproduktion des Tatsächlichen, sondern arrangiert eine surreale Andersartigkeit jenseits unseres nüchtern-methodischen Erfassens.
Ein inspiratives Spiel aus schrankenloser Wirklichkeit und Fiktion, welches in seiner bildlichen Übertragung immer auch den Kontext von umtriebig-rationalem Tun und ideellem Sein spiegelt – Freiraum bietend für eine grenzüberschreitende Illusion als Wandler und Entdecker zwischen den Sphären.
1971 geboren, lebt und arbeitet Nicole Holz als freischaffende Künstlerin zwischen Moor und Meer im Norden von Deutschland. Seit 2009 konzentriert sie sich ausschließlich auf reduzierte Serien mit Fokus abstract - conceptual | landscape - urban.

Photography never presents an image of our reality, but a momentary subjective abstraction. And fluctuation between these two genres is an immanent characteristic of every act of contemplation.
For Nicole Holz, photography is therefore essentially a visual philosophy and transmuting medium. A dissociated staging of rural and/or urban spaces beyond our accustomed perception and ways of seeing is the core of her work:
Her artworks are ruptured compositions, combining estrangement with moving sequences. Boundaries are surmounted until they dissolve.Colours, forms, lines and content in fragmentary sections, but the space itself in its essence and dimensions is always retained. Photographic emancipation by a deliberate breach of rules.
Nicole Holz renders visible both the essentially evident and opaquely concealed constituents of a scene. Permitting a reversion to imaginative concentration and narrative impact, her work let the viewer encounter not a reproduction of reality, but a surreal otherness beyond our prosaic-methodical apperception.
An inspiring interplay of boundless reality and fiction whose visual representations always also reflect the context of both agile rational action and ideal being, creating freedom for a transcendent illusion as a wanderer and discoverer between spheres.
